Introducing ‘Backstage’: A Fusion of Tech House Parties and Collaborative Art
OFF Events and Stadskant approached me to collaborate on a new concept: a tech house party mixed with local art and collaborative artworks made together with visitors. Notably, the event will be hosted multiple times in different locations, inviting different artists to join.
Studio Squid provided the event, called ‘Backstage’, with an eye-catching visual identity. It’s inviting, industrial, alienated, and a work in progress – not polished or fancy.
Importantly, the logo was made using a scanner, leaving its final look to chance. The ‘mistakes’ in the logo make it a work in progress and give it a sense of alienation.
Of course, no event is complete without a poster invitation and ticket sale! The poster design has several elements that fit the event’s vibe perfectly. First of all, the round shape with the image represents the gateway to the Backstage experience, open to everyone! Additionally, the image space can be filled differently for each edition, matching the concept, artist collaboration, or event photography. Imagery should have an alienated vibe, not showing exactly what is happening, to keep the viewer curious. Moreover, the second font reinforces the feeling that it is not quite finished and the poster was made with ease while remaining readable. Last but not least, the grunge vibe adds an industrial and unfinished look.
In addition to posters in different sizes, I also designed a flyer, social media templates (images and video overlay), an access card, and a stamp.
Overall, this project was amazing. The collaboration was inspiring for all our futures!
